Apart from the brand, there are four main characteristics to consider when choosing a new battery charger:
If you have lots of different batteries to charge, we recommend looking into a smart charger that can manage multiple different battery types. It’s a little more expensive, but it might help save a few extra dollars when compared to buying multiple chargers.
It’s also important to consider where you’ll be charging your batteries. For example, you might prefer to charge your battery via USB, or plugging the charger directly into the wall. We have a huge range of RC car chargers as well as batteries for aircraft, construction vehicles, drones, and more - ask us what kind of charger would be best suited to your needs!
All batteries and chargers are different, so there’s no “one size fits all” answer. However, there’s a quick and simple way to work out how long your batteries will take to charge. All you need to do is divide the battery’s mAh (i.e. the battery’s storage capacity) by the charger’s mA (i.e. the measurement of the electrical current).
For example, a 1200mAh battery charging on a 600mA RC charger will take around two hours (1200mAh/600mA = 2).
If your RC battery charger has a higher mA output than the battery’s mAh, then you would need to adjust them to match. It’s important your charger does not deliver more power than the battery can handle because this can damage the batteries and cause a fire hazard.
When purchasing your new RC charger, be sure to check out the charger’s specifications and ensure your batteries are compatible with the charger. This will ensure your batteries stay in excellent condition for longer.
If you need RC car battery chargers, aircraft chargers, RC boat chargers, or even a charger for your drone, you’re sure to find the ideal solution right here at Frontline Hobbies. We have one of the largest RC charger collections in Australia!
